HOW TO MAKE WATERMELON MOCKTAIL
Cut a small slit in a lime wedge, about halfway through the wedge. Take the lime wedge and run it around the rim of each glass, coating it with lime juice. On a small plate, combine the sugar and Tajin seasoning.
Mix and spread Tajin seasoning and sugar on one plate. Take the glasses and dip the rims in the sugar first, coating them evenly. Then dip the rims in the Tajin seasoning to create a spicy and tangy rim. Set aside.
In a blender, add the watermelon cubes, orange juice, lime juice, agave syrup and blend until smooth. If desired, you can strain the watermelon juice to remove any pulp, but it’s optional.
Fill the rimmed glasses with ice cubes. Pour the watermelon margarita mix over the ice, dividing it evenly between the glasses.
You can garnish the mocktails with a small watermelon wedge, lime slices or flowers if desired. Insert a straw into each glass and serve immediately.
TIPS FOR SUCCESS
-
You can add a pinch of cayenne pepper or a few slices of jalapeño to the blender while blending the watermelon cubes for a spicy kick.
-
Muddle a few fresh mint leaves in the bottom of each glass before adding the ice and the mocktail mix for a refreshing minty flavor.
-
You can also freeze the watermelon cubes before blending them to create a slushy texture. Add a handful of ice cubes to the blender and blend until smooth for a frosty watermelon margarita mocktail.
-
Replace half of the orange juice with coconut water for a tropical twist to the mocktail.
-
Tajin seasoning is a popular Mexican spice blend that combines chili, lime, and salt flavors. It adds a tangy and slightly spicy element to the rim of the glass. If you don’t have Tajin, you can try using a combination of chili powder and salt as an alternative.
